Help, Confused-Dot-Com!

confused IV

As I sit “zoning out” watching CNN and other news programmes, I am continuously bombarded (as everyone else is) by thoughts and opinions (ad nauseum) of how bad Donald Trump is. They also continue to accentuate every negative thing with regard to his candidacy  and delineate those of the other candidates even to the point of praising them – especially Hillary Clinton.  I mean it is amazing how much the “classified email issue” as well as the FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation has been downplayed in the media!

In other words, the main conversation is about “How to stop Trump”.

Election I

By doing this, don’t they run the risk of driving more people to him by putting on full display the bias nature of their opinions in the media?  In some respects, the more you assert the negatives of the “Bad Boy” the more you drive others to him. It’s sort of like telling a child about the evils of drugs and alcohol and emphatically forbidding them to try it thereby creating the desire to do the opposite especially if they are angry or distrustful of you as the messenger?

I personally believe this is part of the reason why the Donald is so popular.  The electorate, in general are disgusted and distrustful of both the political establishment and the media and if they are vehemently arguing how bad something is, then by default the opposite therefore must be true?  I believe the key to effectively dealing with the “Trump Factor” is to honestly address the concerns of disaffected constituents that seem to be flocking to him regardless of whether or not one believes in the validity of those concerns.  Continued attacks on Trump will only drive more to his camp effectively creating more divisiveness among the electorate.

Just some thoughts, concerns (and confusion) with respect to the politically staged circus confused Ithat we seemed to be mired in.

Thoughts on Politics

March VIII

Presidential candidates are in search of wins in primaries and caucuses on the road to controlling the White House by pandering to voters.  Some using fear, some lacking integrity, some playing on racial and gender sympathies, some arguing back and forth like children and some with vision but lacking the presence of leadership

The media hopes to win viewers and possibly influence voters with repetitive insipid, mind-numbing dialogue and bias, conspicuous reporting

Segments of the American population want to win by having their interests represented regardless of the cost to the national cohesion of the nation or its well-being

Winning at any cost is the driving conscious mechanism inhabiting our collective psyche

Ironically because of the aforementioned, no matter who wins – we all are losers…..Wizard

It is evident that the majority of us are destined to take the blue pill and continue on sleeping.

Matrix II

No matter, there seems to be the illusion of plenty food, drugs, spirits and shopping to occupy our senses – for now!

Thoughts on Politics

The Republican Presidential Debate was quite brutal Thursday night.  Trump got beat up by Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio as they took their turns on him much like Will Smith got beat in his video “Parents Just Don’t Understand”.  Trump took the abuse well though in my humble opinion. He hung tough unlike Rubio did when Gov. Christie caught him in headlights!

…or could you compare the beating he took to being tag teamed by the wrestlers – The Road Warriors?

The Road Warriors

In retrospect Cruz and Rubio would be better compared to the “Rock-n-Roll Express beating up on King Kong Bundy!

Again, it’s just humour everyone. Hope you had a laugh. I know I sure did!

Justice or Just-Us Against Them?

Supreme Court I

US Supreme Court

The death of  Justice Antonin Scalia has created another rare void on the Supreme Court, the highest court in the United States. Though the politics of conservative and liberal maneuvering has begun to degrade the entire selection process once again, there are some important issues on the horizon that will need to be address by a balanced and competent court.  One of the more significant issues on the horizon is a court order requested by the federal government to have the Apple corporation devise a decryption method for the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorist in the hopes of uncovering more information on their particular lives.

Apple CEO Tim Cook stated to customers that, “This order … has implications far beyond the legal case at hand.”  This, by any stretch of ones imagination, is an understatement.  Empowering anyone much less the federal government with the means by which to pry into ones personal life unchecked should be considered a blatant violation of civil rights and a dangerous threat to personal civil liberties and freedoms no matter what the driving mechanisms behind it.  Utilising acts of terrorism and fear as a pretense to curtail ones individual freedoms is dangerous to any society much less an established democracy.  With the Patriot Act still a component of American life, continued intrusions into our personal lives will lead the United States down a dark and dangerous path.  Surely the Founding Fathers in all their wisdom did not have this in mind when crafting the constitution. Every time we surrender freedoms and liberties we spit in the faces of the  intellectual juggernauts that founded a great nation upon a living, breathing and ever evolving document we call the United States Constitution.

Though there seems to be a lack of the wisdom, intelligence and sheer shrewdness in contemporary leadership that seemed to be omnipresent in the Patriot Fathers, the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court with the aforementioned qualities are paramount to maintaining the system of checks and balances as well as to ensure a healthy democracy of the people, by the people and for the people.   Though we perceive no particular greatness in our leaders, each and every citizen must throw off Supreme Court IIthe shackles of arrogance, ignorance, selfishness and partisanship with respect to political grandstanding and involve themselves adeptly in the mechanics of our government especially with respect to the selection of Judge Scalia’s successor.  It is imperative that we remove the blinders that have been placed upon us and peer through the fog if we are to have any hope of holding back the dark night that is rapidly descending upon us and the rest of the world. Our time is invariably running short and you can rest assured that there are no knights in shinning armour or superheroes with powers beyond those of mortal men and women to save us.  That task, though monumental, invariably falls to each and every one of us!

Balance I

In life when driving towards success we should keep our eyes focused on the prize and our minds opened to the numerous other possibilities along the way

We should endeavour to understand that others travel the same path and in some cases, seek that very same prize

We should therefore be ever mindful of conflict but strive for cohesion whenever possible balancing our ambitions with humility and wisdom

For if a few or one succeeds to the detriment of all others, then inevitably all life suffers

No End To Wicked Machinations

Villain II

This is a true blog unlike my usual posts in the sense that it is comprised of a daily incident or happening. (Just felt the need to clarify this point) It is also a rant!

I was just informed by my mobile phone carrier that they were charging 1.25 now every month as some “CONTRIBUTION” by every state.  I informed my carrier (AT&T) that a contribution is what one gives willingly.  This is being taken whether I want it or not.  In fact, every carrier will be charging this fee.  It is incredible that they are finding new ways to take more from you while giving you less and limiting your freedoms.

Strangely enough I also lost internet connections both mobile and home shortly after complaining about the theft.

It seems we are truly inching closer to the end of days and total anarchy.  We all need to wake up and see things as they truly are and not as we would like them to be!
